Hi, I’m Nicky LaMarco, Copywriter + Content Marketing Writer.

In 2002, I was lost. I was a young mother of two babies, and I didn’t know what to do with my life. How was I going to make a living? I had plenty of opportunities in front of me. I could go back to college and complete a degree. I could get a 9-5 working in an office, (which I did do for a bit). I could start my own business, which is something that I’ve always wanted.

I created a business plan for a coffee house when I was 16-years-old. I knew I wanted to run my own business, so I did the research. I interviewed local coffee house owners. It was an incredible experience.

In a retail job I worked at I was given small manager jobs, such as merchandising, scheduling, and managing parties. I soaked up every experience of these jobs, as they gave me an inside look into how the business worked. How it was run. How it made money. I was fascinated.

I knew I wanted to run things, but having kids made me wonder if I should even take the risk.

I spent weeks talking to my then boyfriend, now husband, about what I could do for a career. I threw out hundreds of different ideas. One day, he turned to me suddenly and said, “You’re always writing. You love it. Why don’t you do that?”

My optimal career was in front of my face this whole time. Why didn’t I see it before? I’ve always loved to write. I don’t think I could stop if I tried.

Within minutes I was looking up how to make money writing. I discovered freelance writing. I researched and read books and asked questions. I still do. I love to learn, and I love to write. I think those two things naturally go together.

So, I started writing for magazines and businesses, and I’ve never looked back.
